Black-on-Black Crime Task Force

Mission Statement

The Black-on-Black Crime Task Force is a dedicated group of individuals appointed by the Chairperson to address issues related to crimes involving members of our community and victims in our neighborhoods. The main goal of this Task Force is to carefully review relevant data and develop effective strategies to decrease these offenses. This will be done by working closely with the Gainesville Police Department, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and other public safety groups to implement community-based solutions that encourage greater cooperation between residents and law enforcement, helping to reduce crime rates in Gainesville and Alachua County.

Core Objectives

Foster greater cooperation between citizens and law enforcement: The Task Force emphasizes the importance of building trust, understanding, and mutual respect between the community and law enforcement agencies. Through various initiatives, the Task Force aims to bridge gaps, improve communication, and develop positive relationships among citizens, public safety, and the criminal justice system. By encouraging cooperation, it seeks to create an environment where community members feel comfortable reporting crimes, sharing information, and actively engaging in crime prevention efforts.

We are a grassroots coalition committed to improving the quality of life for youth, young adults, and the communities we serve.

We collaborate with public and private organizations to offer enriching academic, artistic, and STEM opportunities that foster leadership, citizenship, and personal development, empowering young people with a voice today so they can become responsible, engaged citizens tomorrow.

The Black-on-Black Crime Task Force meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 PM. The meeting location varies; please check this site for details.
